The Schauer family has been operating businesses in SE Wisconsin for over 65 years. It all began in 1955 when our dad, Bill Schauer, moved to Union Grove and established Schauer Equipment Company, becoming one of the first Surge milking machine dealers in the world. Because of Bill’s work ethic and dedication to his customers, it didn’t take him long to build a formidable customer base that over time would grow to nearly 900 dairy farms across SE WI and Northern IL.
In the same way Bill recognized the future of dairy farming was automated milking machines, he also saw the latest winter recreation craze gaining momentum, snowmobiling. In 1968, he established Schauer Enterprises and became a Fox Trac snowmobile dealer in the winter, adding Simplicity tractors and Lawn Boy mowers in the summer. In 1970 Bill became an Arctic Cat dealer which set the trajectory of our power sports business.
In 1976, Bill and our mom Marlene started Schauer’s Party Shop, a full-service beer and liquor depot in a building connected to the power equipment business.
In one way or another, our entire family was involved in our businesses over the years. Bill was the visionary and led the charge, Marlene ran the books, and the children, Jeff, Pam, & Dan did anything and everything in each of the stores to make them successful.
In 1987 Jeff purchased the power equipment business from our parents, renaming it Schauer Power Center. Eventually both the dairy equipment and liquor store operations were sold when Bill retired, and Jeff purchased the buildings to expand the power sports business to the footprint it is today.
In June of 2022, after a very short bout with cancer, Jeff passed away. Dan, the youngest son, came back to the family business he grew up in to lead the day-to-day operations alongside the tremendous staff we have at Schauer Power Center.
In 2023, we can proudly say the Schauer family has been in the business of “fun” for 55 years! We’ve had the privilege to represent some of the top brands in the power sports industry, and we’re honored to have you visit our store.
